This August, Litnja kužina brings art down from the gallery walls and straight to the children’s table.
Over four Saturdays, four artists will lead four different workshops, giving children the opportunity to discover how an artwork comes to life – from the very first idea to the finished piece. Each workshop is led by one of this year’s Litnja kužina exhibitors, who will introduce children to their own techniques, materials and creative process. Every Saturday brings a new artistic experience, new materials and a new story.
The programme is intended for primary school children. Participation is free of charge, but the number of places is limited.
August 1 – Lidia Biočić
The first workshop is led by Lidia Biočić, an art teacher who teaches painting at the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zadar. Alongside her teaching career, she regularly exhibits her work in solo and group exhibitions and leads numerous art workshops.
At this year’s Litnja kužina, Lidia presents a series of small-format works created by combining collage, markers, graphite, acrylics and various mixed-media techniques. Inspired by the idea that art should never be distant, exclusive or reserved only for those who can buy it, the first Little Litnja kužina workshop invites children to explore different materials and discover that creativity belongs to everyone.

August 8 – Branka Petričević Koprivnjak
The second workshop is led by Branka Petričević Koprivnjak, an artist working in painting, ceramics and jewellery design. At this year’s Litnja kužina she presents her hand-crafted and hand-painted ceramic plates, while for Little Litnja kužina she will guide a creative paper doll workshop inspired by the traditional costumes of the Dalmatian hinterland.
Using paper, wool and a variety of other materials, children will cut, fold, draw and assemble paper figures dressed in traditional costumes, adding their own creative details along the way. Those who wish can go a step further and create a small scene inspired by everyday life in traditional Dalmatian villages.

August 15 – Lara Landeka
The third workshop is led by Lara Landeka, an artist whose creative practice combines painting with materials collected in nature. In her artworks, pebbles of different shapes become motifs inspired by nature and everyday life, and these are also the works she presents at this year’s Litnja kužina.
During the workshop, children will paint on canvas using acrylics while pebbles, shells and twigs become integral parts of their compositions. How they arrange these natural elements and what they transform them into will be entirely up to their imagination.

August 22 – Iva Sabljić Martinović (Furešta Črčkalica)
The final workshop is led by Iva Sabljić Martinović, better known as Furešta Črčkalica, a self-taught artist who explores a wide range of artistic media and often finds inspiration in nature and everyday life. At this year’s Litnja kužina she presents mixed-media works inspired by the urban landscape of Zaton.
For the final workshop, children will transform old tin cans into unique and practical objects using paint, drawing and plenty of imagination. Whether a can becomes a pencil holder, a flower pot or something entirely different is up to each young creator.
