Festival Čuvarkuća

Organized by the Educational Incubator association, the second edition of the festival “Čuvarkuća – Life Before Trail Markings” will take place in Šibenik from April 17 to 19. The event promotes a return to nature, traditional knowledge, and active outdoor living through lectures, walks, and excursions.

Three days of lectures, gatherings, and field activities

The festival begins on Friday, April 17, at Azimut club, where visitors can attend a series of lectures and presentations from 7 PM to 10 PM. The program includes an exhibition and lecture by Mića Samardžija about Mount Dinara, a book presentation of Plants Know Better by Marija Paro, a round table discussion titled “Return to the Land”, and a presentation of the award-winning trilogy Between the Eagle and the Lion by writer Ana Cerovac.

Saturday is reserved for a spontaneous field activity at one of the locations in the county, which will be decided by the organizers during the festival, while Sunday features a full-day educational train excursion titled “From Perković to the City.”

The goal: reconnect young people with nature and forgotten values

The organizers emphasize that the main idea of the festival is to encourage especially young people to spend more time in nature and, through outdoor experiences, learn about the lifestyle and knowledge of previous generations.

“Modern times have disrupted the continuity of traditional life and distanced us from nature. Čuvarkuća aims to remind us that traces of that life are still all around us,” the organizers state.

The festival is led by Marina Škrapić and Mladen Brajica, with the participation of numerous schools, mountaineering clubs, associations, family farms, and tourist boards from Šibenik and the surrounding county.

A gathering for those who want to learn from the past
