AJMO: Mangroove

The “AJMO” program at Azimut continues its musical journey—this time in the spirit of soul, pop, and sophisticated groove. Taking the stage is the Zagreb-based band Mangroove, led by the creative duo Željka Veverec and Toni Starešinić, who have long been regarded among the most respected authors of the contemporary Croatian pop scene.

Mangroove have established themselves as a band that skillfully blends electronic music, soul, funk, jazz, and pop into a distinctive and emotional sound. Their albums Svijet za nas, Put na mjesec, Sami, Srce, and the latest Komad neba have earned them critical acclaim, Porin nominations and awards, as well as collaborations with renowned musicians such as Dado Topić, Tedi Spalato, Remi, and Mayales.

In 2023, together with the HRT Jazz Orchestra, Mangroove released the album Nešto veće od nas, which won two Porin awards and the Rock&Off award for Best Jazz & Off Artist. They continue to explore the boundaries of Croatian pop, delivering emotional and powerful performances on every stage.

“AJMO!” is a project created through the collaboration and planning of the Croatian Music Export Office with the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, which also funds the initiative. The goal of the project is to encourage concert activity in smaller communities and to support local musicians and organizers in their work.
