SUMMARY:LONG PLAY DAY
DESCRIPTION:LONG PLAY DAY 2026\nMay 28 — 30 / Azimut / Šibenik\nThree days of vinyl\, concerts\, photography\, soundsystem culture\, and people who still believe music sounds best when it has weight in your hands. \nThis year once again\, Long Play Day transforms Azimut into a meeting place for collectors\, diggers\, musicians\, photographers\, DJs\, and everyone who still loves digging through crates\, standing in front of speakers\, and talking about albums as if they were part of family history. \nExpect a record fair\, concerts\, a concert photography exhibition\, listening sessions\, DJ programs\, and three days of gathering by the sea with music that isn’t scrolled through — but truly listened to. \n\n\nThursday\, May 28\n8:00 PM\nOpening of Marina Pešić’s Concert Photography Exhibition — “In the Colors of Sound”\n\n\nPhotographer Marina Pešić presents her 11th solo exhibition of concert photography and her second exhibition in Croatia. The exhibition features 25 photographs created between 2014 and today — a cross-section of years spent around stages\, spotlights\, smoke\, and moments somewhere between noise and silence. \nRock\, punk\, pop\, and raw concert energy captured through color\, movement\, and the atmosphere of clubs and festivals. \nThe exhibition opening takes place in Azimut’s gallery space\, accompanied by a conversation with the artist and a music program. \nThe evening closes with an acoustic performance by Lili Gee. \n\n\nFriday\, May 29\n 9\,30 PM\nKaliKamo / live\n \nWhen dub culture\, analog synths\, spoken word\, and massive bass grooves collide — KaliKamo happens. \nThis powerful collective brings together musicians from projects such as KudiKamo?\, BarabaDub Sound System\, Je Veux\, and Egoless\, creating a sound that drifts between dub\, electronics\, psychedelia\, trance\, and improvisation. \nHeavy basslines\, delays\, loopers\, live instruments\, and hypnotic flow create a concert experience that feels more like a ritual than a conventional live show. \nTheir debut album “Jedinstvo”\, released by PDV Records\, already won the Ambasador Award for Album of the Year and ranked among the top domestic releases according to regional music critics. \nKaliKamo live is not just a concert. It’s a collective groove ritual for dancing\, smoke\, and losing all sense of time. \n\n\nSaturday\, May 30\n10:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nRecord Fair / LP Day\n \nA full-day gathering dedicated to vinyl\, collecting culture\, and music. \nCollectors\, exhibitors\, labels\, and diggers from across the region are coming to Azimut with hundreds of records\, tapes\, CDs\, memorabilia\, and music releases from every imaginable genre. \nFrom jazz\, funk\, and dub to punk\, electronics\, and ex-Yugoslav classics — the digging will be serious. \nAlongside the fair\, expect: \n\nDJ selections throughout the day\nAlbum listening sessions\nHanging out by the sea with great music\n\nSee you at Azimut.

SUMMARY:"Dišem" - Lana Đurđek
DESCRIPTION:Through nine photographs and six short textual forms\, the artist returns to the experience of being in and around water—a space where the body naturally slows down and focus shifts inward. At the core of the work is the concept of brumation\, a state of physiological slowing\, which Đurđek uses as a framework for reflecting on withdrawal\, contemplation\, and presence. Not as an escape\, but as a way of sensing things more precisely: through breath\, the body\, and a relationship with space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSet within a medieval cistern in Šibenik and as part of the Flora Dalmatica festival\, the exhibition Dišem (I Breathe) gains an additional dimension. Photographs and texts connect with the theme and the space to create a unified experience. The exhibition I Breathe will particularly appeal to audiences seeking a quieter\, more focused experience and space for personal interpretation. It is intended for anyone willing to pause and connect their own experience with what they see and read. \nThe Flora Dalmatica festival presents programs that explore the relationship between humans and nature through a local context and contemporary artistic practices. It is organized by a platform that brings together local government\, public and cultural institutions\, and civil society organizations. The festival is inspired by Šibenik-born Roberto Visiani\, one of the pioneers of botany in Europe\, after whose most famous work it is named. \nLana Đurđek (Zagreb\, 1999) is a visual artist whose practice is based on photography and text. She holds a degree in New Media from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and a Master’s degree in Photography from HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. She has exhibited in Zagreb and Gothenburg and has been a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists since 2021. She has participated in residencies in Leipzig and Paris\, and lives and works in Zagreb. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:La douleur exquise by Iva Perković
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLa douleur exquise by Iva Perković is not an exhibition that seeks empathy; it establishes it as a precondition. \nPerković operates within an expanded field of painting\, yet without the need to further legitimize it — the works themselves clearly demonstrate that painterly thinking here is merely a point of departure. A series of small-format works on paper functions as a fragmented herbarium: reduced palette\, dispersed stain\, a line that barely sustains form. The floral motif is neither decorative nor symbolically closed; it is reduced to the threshold of existence\, almost to the trace of its own disappearance. \nAt the same time\, the space is intersected by hanging installations — mobile\, but not playful. These are spatial constructions that owe more to reliquaries than to classical sculpture: branches\, textiles\, found elements\, and metal plates form a fragile yet disciplined structure. These suspended objects (more precisely: ambient mobiles / assemblages) do not “decorate” the space but organize it\, introducing a vertical rhythm that draws the viewer into the field of the work. \nParticularly noteworthy is the treatment of metal\, where Perković employs techniques close to the tradition of sacred craftsmanship — relief shaping of sheet metal using repoussé and chasing. Yet there is no nostalgia for icon painting here; metal is not a bearer of the sacred\, but of memory — of pressure\, imprint\, scar. The surface is not an image but a record of force. \nThe entire exhibition functions as a controlled system of tensions: between the fragility of paper and the hardness of metal\, between the organic lines of branches and the rigor of composition\, between the decorative impulse and its constant negation. Nothing fully disintegrates\, yet nothing is entirely stable. \nThe title La douleur exquise should not be read as an affective key\, but as a precise diagnosis. It refers to a pain that has already undergone filtration — what remains is the pure form of experience\, stripped of narrative excess. \nIva Perković (b. 1976\, Šibenik) works within contemporary art across photography\, installation\, and object-based practices. In her earlier work\, she focused on the human body and the immediacy of experience\, documenting “ordinary” models without constructed identity — as raw presence. \nIn her more recent work\, her interest shifts toward materiality and processes of transformation — she uses found elements and discarded materials\, reorganizing them into spatial\, often floating structures. Her installations are built from fragments (e.g.\, book pages shaped into floral forms)\, where narrative emerges from the material memory itself. \nShe continuously exhibits in Šibenik and participates in group projects and the local independent scene\, developing a practice that moves between image\, object\, and environment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:WHISPERING TO ATMs
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Whispering to ATMs” is conceived as a composition of a visual element (graphics) and a literary text (micro prose). This relatively unusual combination of two artistic expressions is presented to the audience on multiple levels\, communicating both textually and visually\, and allowing for various interpretations; the visual stimulus intensifies the emotions carried by the texts. \nMeić began the process of creating stains by studying spontaneously formed marks from reality\, as well as exploring the possibilities of traditional intaglio printmaking techniques. Through the “beauty of chance” and the harmony of stains\, the artist seeks a way to dive deeper—by observing simple visual elements\, she reaches a space of feeling\, reflection\, and experience. \n“While reading the stories and browsing through existing prints\, I searched for details—zooming in\, rotating\, erasing\, redrawing\, and digitally intervening on my own scanned graphics. Sometimes isolating just a single line from the entire sheet\, or a millimeter-sized dot next to a large stain. This approach allowed for a freer and more direct transmission of thoughts after reading the story. In the desire not to separate words from visual elements\, I reacted impulsively\,” explains Meić. \nOne of the starting points of the collaboration between the two artists was a reflection on the overwhelming amount of information\, the sterility of today’s visual stimuli\, and the question of how and why we choose or reject certain content. As our gaze wanders across the visual field\, we select familiar images\, while abstract visual elements—such as a stain on a wall or a worn pedestrian crossing—remain unnoticed\, ignored. A similar thing happens with shorter literary forms (poetry\, micro prose\, short stories)\, which often go unnoticed in the cacophony of modern communication; they dissolve into the background\, as they are inherently quieter and more contemplative. \nAdditionally\, the visual component significantly defines the text: the dynamics of writing\, the content\, and the imposed framework of the artwork limit the space of the text\, yet the micro-story leaves the viewer with an emotion\, an image in the mind—not something literally remembered\, but something felt. \nIn this way\, the artists “glorify” simple\, pure visual content and short literary forms\, pointing to the importance of observing\, reading\, seeing\, and experiencing. \nWhispering to ATMs is conceived as a traveling exhibition. \n\nIvan Jozić (1981\, Zenica) holds a degree in economics and is the author of the short story collection Male Pig and Twenty Desperately in Love. He has been a finalist and winner of several literary competitions in Croatia and the region. His stories have been included in numerous national and regional anthologies and publications. He participated as one of Croatia’s representatives at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2016. He lives and works in Zagreb. \nVida Meić (1991\, Čakovec) graduated in printmaking from the Teacher Education Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb with Summa Cum Laude honors. She is the recipient of seven awards for artistic work\, including the Erste Grand Prix\, the National and University Library Print Collection Award\, and the MSU Award. She has exhibited in around thirty group exhibitions and three solo exhibitions. She works as an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts\, University of Zagreb.

SUMMARY:Night of Museums – Hidden Waters of the Karst Underground
DESCRIPTION:The Azimut Independent Cultural Center\, in collaboration with the St. Michael Mountaineering Club – Speleology Section\, Krka National Park\, and the Ruđer Bošković Institute\, presents the program The Aquatic Treasures of the Karst Underground as part of Night of Museums 2026. \nThrough a photography exhibition\, film screening\, lecture\, and children’s workshop\, the program explores the hidden world of the karst underground and water as its most vital resource. The program is intended for children and adults\, nature enthusiasts\, and anyone interested in how underground waters are formed\, how they function\, and why they are exceptionally sensitive. \nStep beneath the surface of a familiar space and discover water as a value that must be understood\, preserved\, and protected. \n\nProgram\n18:00 – Workshop: Underground Waters\nDr. Neven Cukrov\, Ruđer Bošković Institute \nThrough two hands-on activities\, children explore how karst landscapes are formed and how water behaves in different underground environments. In the first activity\, the dissolution of limestone using a mild acid demonstrates the formation of karst and the specific characteristics of karst underground systems. In the second activity\, models of karst and alluvial aquifers made from PET bottles are used to compare water infiltration and filtration. By passing “polluted” water through the models\, children clearly observe why karst waters are more vulnerable to contamination. The workshop concludes with a discussion and the creation of a small rulebook for the protection of karst waters. \n\n20:00 – Lecture: The Wealth of Underground Waters in the Caves and Pits of Šibenik-Knin County\nTeo Barišić\, Speleology Section\, St. Michael Mountaineering Club \nAlthough we live in an area rich in water\, most of this wealth remains hidden from view. Beneath our feet\, complex underground water flows pass through caves\, pits\, and karst fissures\, feeding springs\, rivers\, and wells. This hidden water is the foundation of life in Šibenik-Knin County\, yet it is extremely vulnerable to pollution.Through examples of local speleological research\, the lecture illustrates the connection between surface and underground waters and highlights the fragility of these systems and the need for their long-term protection. \n\n21:00 – Photography Exhibition: The Aquatic Treasures of the Karst Underground\nSt. Michael Mountaineering Club – Speleology Section \nThe exhibition presents photographs taken by members of the Speleology Section of HPK St. Michael during demanding expeditions and explorations of the local karst underground. Dramatic scenes of caves\, pits\, siphons\, springs\, and underground rivers reveal a world hidden beneath the surface—its beauty and complexity\, as well as the vulnerability of underground waters that sustain life in this region and the importance of their preservation. \n\n21:30 – Short Film Screening: In Search of the Dragon\nKrka National Park \nIn Search of the Dragon is a short educational documentary by Petra Kovač Konrad (member of the Speleology Section of HPK St. Michael) and Florian Launette\, filmed during speleological research of the Miljacka II cave in Krka National Park. The film takes viewers into the hidden world of the karst underground and follows the search for the olm (Proteus anguinus)\, connecting scientific research\, natural heritage\, and local legends through demanding cave-diving filming techniques. \n\n22:00 – Music Program: Ante Prgin\nThis year’s Night of Museums program concludes with a performance by Šibenik-based musician Ante Prgin\, widely known for his musical projects L Kok\, Fali 5\, and El Gato. Ante is also a long-time mountaineer\, nature enthusiast\, and member of HPK St. Michael. \n\nProject Presentations: Kad odraSTEM and Digital Horizons\nKolektiv 4B & Azimut Independent Cultural Center \nIn the introductory part of the program\, Kolektiv 4B and Azimut Independent Cultural Center will present projects focused on the development of digital and creative capacities. The Kad odraSTEM project is aimed at primary and secondary school students and fosters skills in multimedia\, audiovisual production\, and artificial intelligence through hands-on work. The Digital Horizons project focuses on the digital transformation of the Azimut Independent Cultural Center and the introduction of contemporary presentation technology\, which will be presented to the Šibenik public for the first time at this year’s Night of Museums.
