SUMMARY:"Dišem" - Lana Đurđek
DESCRIPTION:Through nine photographs and six short textual forms\, the artist returns to the experience of being in and around water—a space where the body naturally slows down and focus shifts inward. At the core of the work is the concept of brumation\, a state of physiological slowing\, which Đurđek uses as a framework for reflecting on withdrawal\, contemplation\, and presence. Not as an escape\, but as a way of sensing things more precisely: through breath\, the body\, and a relationship with space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSet within a medieval cistern in Šibenik and as part of the Flora Dalmatica festival\, the exhibition Dišem (I Breathe) gains an additional dimension. Photographs and texts connect with the theme and the space to create a unified experience. The exhibition I Breathe will particularly appeal to audiences seeking a quieter\, more focused experience and space for personal interpretation. It is intended for anyone willing to pause and connect their own experience with what they see and read. \nThe Flora Dalmatica festival presents programs that explore the relationship between humans and nature through a local context and contemporary artistic practices. It is organized by a platform that brings together local government\, public and cultural institutions\, and civil society organizations. The festival is inspired by Šibenik-born Roberto Visiani\, one of the pioneers of botany in Europe\, after whose most famous work it is named. \nLana Đurđek (Zagreb\, 1999) is a visual artist whose practice is based on photography and text. She holds a degree in New Media from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and a Master’s degree in Photography from HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. She has exhibited in Zagreb and Gothenburg and has been a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists since 2021. She has participated in residencies in Leipzig and Paris\, and lives and works in Zagreb. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
