Book Promotion: Pupkovina

The new book by author Maja Klarić, Pupkovina, is not just a collection of poetry about motherhood—it is also a kind of diary of the first months with a newborn, a keepsake of small moments from the earliest years, and of pivotal stages in the growth of both child and mother. It captures the creation of an unbreakable bond that lasts forever, just as the umbilical cord continues to connect mother and child long after it has been cut.
A poet whose passion is travel, and who has earned the nickname “travel poet” for her long walking journeys and collections of travel-inspired poetry, takes us on another journey—one whose stops and crossroads every mother knows well, and from which we carry more memories and life lessons than from any other.
This visually beautiful and tender book was created in collaboration with illustrator Ana Salopek, who also designed it, while the editor is Rijeka-based writer Ingrid Divković. Just like the small piece of umbilical cord that many mothers keep as a lifelong memento, Pupkovina is a book you will cherish in your heart—or give as a heartfelt gift to someone special.
The book launch in Šibenik, starting at 6 PM, will be hosted by actress Franka Klarić, who will engage in an inspiring conversation with Maja about artistic creation during the beautiful yet challenging period of early motherhood.
Everyone is welcome!
